Week of Feb. 20, 2012

Hope everyone had a restful President’s Day.

This Wednesday, your child will be taking a practice STAAR test in Reading. Please encourage your child to actively interact with their text by recording connections and important details, asking questions as they read, and inferring. In class, we have reviewed the importance of using our background knowledge and text clues to infer. The test will be timed. Your child will have four hours to complete the exam.

In math, we will begin our study of area by using concrete counters to understand this concept.
Here are some great links and games to help and support your child's learning of the fraction concepts.

Please keep up the good work learning our multiplication facts.

In science, this week we will journey to Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus.

Just a reminder your child should complete reading their biographies by Feb. 27, 2012.

Don't forget Go Texan Day is this Friday! I will have my camera ready.
